Information theory and player archetype choice in Hearthstone

Using three years of game data the online collectible card Hearthstone, we analyse evolution game’s system over period 2016–2019. By considering frequencies that archetypes are played, and their corresponding win-rates, able to provide narratives system-wide changes have occurred time, player reactions them. Applying archetype system’s Shannon entropy, characterise salient features time series choice. Paying particular attention how entropy is affected during periods both small large-scale change, demonstrate effects increased experimentation before popular decks tactics emerge. Furthermore, constructing conditional probabilities simulate understandable behaviour, information storage test explain-ability current choice based on previous decision-making.
